This is a grown and sexy event consisting of live R&B music, spoken-word poetry, and stand-up comedy. Get ready for The Groove in the New Era Ballroom at Woolworth on 5th. This is a soul social where you can join other professionals enjoying great music mixing and mingling downtown. DJ Nekos will be playing R&B throughout the evening. This is a free event, and you will be able to purchase food and drinks. One thing that many of us loved about the 90’s was the music. This concert features some of the R&B greats that keep us singing and dancing. Guy featuring Teddy Riley, Ginuwine, Dru Hill, Next, and Jagged Edge will all be performing live. Work hard, play hard. That’s the name of the game, right? Just Play Entertainment is hosting a game night at Broken Spoke Saloon. Bring a team of 4, or join a team upon arrival. Teams compete to win the championship title in Hip-Hop Charades, Hood Jeopardy, Giant UNO, LCR, Jumbo Truth or Dare blocks, and more. What ever happened to First Fridays? You do not have to wonder anymore. Tee Banks, DeShun Smith, DJ C-LO, and Kenny Smoov present First Friday 2.0, The Re-Launch. Doors open at 9 Bar\Lounge at 8:00 p.m. and there is a $10 cover charge at the door. The live band will be playing up until 10:00 p.m. when DJ C-LO will be providing the sounds. Keep in mind that I am an artist, and you know the rest. This is an art experience in which you get to paint while hearing poetry and music. The Connoisseur will be held at Broken Spoke Saloon where Yeroc Art will be leading this art class. On the first Saturday of every month, you can look forward to this visual arts event in the historic arts and entertainment center of downtown Nashville. Local art galleries located along Fifth Avenue of the Arts and in the Historic Arcade open their doors and showcase new exhibits each month. Many galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Funky Good Time is exactly what the name says. Be at The 5 Spot for this vinyl dance party that happens every first Saturday. Resident DJ’s RadSki, Raw Wax, Bowls, and Case Bloom will be on the wheels, and Daru Jones will be on the drums. This month’s guest DJ is Rich Medina who will be adding his own taste of hip-hop, house, Afrobeat, funk, and soul. Show up ready to dance and have a funky good time, or you could simply stay home.
